We meet on the third Thursday evening of most months from January to November. Meetings are usually a talk given by a guest speaker followed by refreshments and a chance to chat to your fellow gardeners.

However, occasional meetings may take place in the afternoon or be ‘away’ when we visit a local garden centre or other garden-related establishment.

Once or twice a year we usually have a social evening such as a Sausage Sizzle Social: a sausage ‘n’ mash supper followed by a fun quiz.

Our highlight this year is on 23rd June when TV gardener Chris Beardshaw will give a presentation entitled ‘100 plants that almost changed the world’. Tickets will be on sale from 1st April priced at £15.

Produce Shows

Produce on the show bench

Two of the highlights of the LDGA year are the Summer & Autumn Shows when you get the chance to show off all the good work you have been doing – not just flowers, fruit and vegetables but also cookery and handicrafts.

If you have never shown before but fancy a go, friendly advice is always available. Why not contact the Show Secretary to find out more? You never know, you could be going home with the Newcomer’s Award.

It’s a great afternoon out for everyone. Come along even if you are not exhibiting, the shows include plant and produce sales, craft demonstrations, and home-made refreshments.

Visit our Produce Shows page to find out more.
