We meet on the third Thursday of every month from March to October. Meetings are usually in the evening at Letchworth Golf Club and involve a talk given by a guest speaker followed by refreshments and a chance to chat to your fellow gardeners.

However, occasionally meetings may take place in the afternoon or be ‘away’ when we visit a local garden centre or other garden-related establishment.

Meetings in January and November are in the form of a lunch at Letchworth Golf Club followed by a speaker or a fun quiz. February is when we hold our AGM.

Summer Outings

A display of flowers at Hyde Hall We have several outings throughout the year, one to RHS Hyde Hall or Wisley, when we take advantage of free entry for up to 55 members and guests as part of our RHS affiliation. Plus, another couple of visits to non-RHS gardens.

These trips are on first come first served basis and prices vary according to destination.

We meet on the first Wednesday morning of each month including December. This is a good opportunity to socialise and meet fellow members; there is usually plenty of garden-related chat going on.

Venues vary according to availability but it’s usually Tapps Garden Centre. Look out for members’ emails or visit our What’s on page for up-to-date venue information.

We also have a couple of Tea and Cake Afternoons throughout the year which take place at Dimples.

Produce Shows

Produce on the show bench Two of the highlights of the LDGA year are the Summer & Autumn Shows when you get the chance to show off all the good work you have been doing – not just flowers, fruit and vegetables but also cookery and handicrafts.

If you have never shown before but fancy a go, friendly advice is always available. Why not contact the Show Secretary to find out more? You never know, you could be going home with the Newcomer’s Award.

It’s a great afternoon out for everyone. Come along even if you are not exhibiting, the shows include plant and produce sales, craft demonstrations, and home-made refreshments.

Visit our Produce Shows page to find out more.
