He'll be telling us all about galls, the unusual lumps, bumps and growths that occur on plants when they are invaded by different organisms. There are around 3000 different types in the UK and they come in a huge variety of shapes and sizes. The Oak Apple is just one example and is caused by a small wasp. Saturday 11th May City centre sightseeing, shopping, museums, or a short walk to the Botanical Gardens. If you want to visit the UK's oldest botanic garden, purchase your own entry ticket either online in advance or at the gate on the day (card only). Prices are £7.20 or £5.90 for concessions. We will depart by coach from the former Plinston Hall at 9:00am and return by approx. 6:00pm. The cost is Members £18 each; Non-members £20 each.
